Survey shows gift cards are preferred
The 2018 State of Consumer Gift Card Preferences survey by global financial technology company Blackhawk Network reveals increased consumer interest in gift card innovations driven by changing consumer lifestyles and technology.
Over 80% of surveyed consumers said they would prefer receiving a gift card or prepaid card over other incentive options like discounts, vouchers or merchandise. They found gift cards to be more influential on purchase decisions than options like coupons and bonus dollars.

The mass appeal of prepaid gift cards can be leveraged to advantage by companies looking to extend their brand strategy to remind their recipients of their brand as the gift card functions as a billboard in their wallet. Every time they open their wallet or use the value on the card, they are reminded of the company that gave them the card.
